Urban birding in Lima
Lima, a mega city of 9 million people, surprises you with a great variety of wild species that have adapted to the urban habitats. Come with us to observe hawks, parrots, hummingbirds, wild dove species and other colorful birds in San Isidro’s “El Olivar” park, consisting of the remains of a former olive farm. It offers you an astonishing diversity of up to 29 bird species, many of which you will be able to observe with the help of our experienced birding guides.
You can see the beautiful Vermillion flycatcher and the Saffron finch, as well as the fascinating Amazilia hummingbird. There are up to three species of parrots and
parrotlets as well as three species of wild doves. The tiny Southern beardless tyrannulet and the Bananaquit are other highlights, as well as the Blue-grey tanager.
