Birding in the protected wetland of Puerto Viejo
The wetland of Puerto Viejo covers more than 300 hectares and is located about 70 Kilometers south of Lima. More than 100 bird species have been registered in this wetland. The main attractions of this wetland are a big population of the beautiful Many colored rush-tyrant, as well as the endemic Coastal miner.
Other specialties to be observed all year round are: Vermilion flycatcher, Wren-like rush bird, Great grebe, Pied-billed grebe, White-cheeked pintail, Andean duck amongst many others

Peru birding with Nature Expeditions
Travel with biologist Stefan Austermühle, Executive Director of the Peruvian nature conservation group Mundo Azul and founder of Nature Expeditions. Stefan is deeply involved in nature conservation and biological research in Peru since 1998. Originally a cetacean researcher he has become an experienced and dedicated birder while working all over the country.
